Why We Are Doing This.

There has been an explosion of mobile devices in the past few years.  People are more connected than ever before.

Kids too are more and more exposed to technology like iPads, iPhones, and games on the Internet.  They get more interested in technology, and want to talk to other kids who are also interested in technology.

That's what Coder Kids is about in the short term; connecting kids with similar interests.

In the longer term, there is a huge trend today toward a higher and higher demand in industry for computer programmers and engineers.  There is a significant shortage of that skill today; our focus is to help kids further along on their path of interest in technology and programming.

There are many organizations that are focused on this mission today; Code.org is probably the leader here.  CoderDojo is another;  CodeAcademy, Udacity and others have developed free content to teach programming.

What Coder Kids is doing is getting experienced computer industry mentors together with kids to help them learn about technology and programming.  We are like a CoderDojo, using materials from Code.org, Codeacademy, and others plus much of our own material.

Join us.

Computer programmers are in great demand by American businesses, across the tech sector, banking, entertainment, you name it. These are some of the highest-paying jobs, but there are not enough graduates to fill these opportunities.
